Global Suppliers Target India’s Food Import Market

India’s food import and agri-commodity market drew strong global attention at AAHAR 2026, where Australia presented its largest-ever delegation of food and beverage exporters. The participation signals growing interest from Australian suppliers in tapping India’s expanding food processing, HoReCa, and retail consumption markets.

Organized by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), the Australian pavilion featured 44 exporters showcasing a diversified portfolio of agri-food commodities and value-added products. For Indian traders, importers, and food processors, the pavilion served as a trade sourcing hub for premium agricultural products and processed food ingredients.

Commodity Basket for Indian Buyers

Australian exporters displayed a wide range of products targeting India’s import demand, including lamb and meat products, dairy commodities, grains, honey, beverages, and specialty food ingredients. These product segments are increasingly relevant for India’s processed food industry and hospitality sector, where demand for high-quality imported inputs continues to rise. The pavilion also highlighted Australian lamb through culinary demonstrations, aimed at strengthening demand in India’s hospitality and food service channels
